Best & Worst | Vegan Mascaras

Best & Worst | Vegan Mascaras

I am FINALLY breaking down the best and worst vegan mascaras on the green beauty market. These mascaras are certified Cruelty-Free, Vegan, and are free of artificial dyes, fragrances, and potentially harmful ingredients.

As someone with short and stubby lashes, I love a good volumizing formula. If you guys have any vegan mascara recommendations with safe ingredients, leave it in the comments!

Let's get started!

Let's start with the poor performers.....

Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mineral Mascara | $14

Stellar Gaze Mascara

Stellar Gaze Mascara

Initially a good mascara when I lived in the Midwest, this formula had ok lash definition, length, but little volume. This mascara ultimately disappointed me when I moved to the Pacific Northwest and I noticed how badly this formula transfers and smudges on me throughout the day.

This formula did nothing for my short lashes and now that it is prone to transferring, I do not recommend this mascara. There are better formulas that offer better lash definition, length, and volume.

Pacifica Aquarian Gaze Water-Resistant Long Lash Mineral Mascara | $14

Aquarian Gaze Mascara

Aquarian Gaze Mascara, 3 Coats

As one of the few "water-proof" non-toxic mascara formulas, I had high expectations for this mascara.

Ultimately, even with 3 coats of mascara, the effect was very minimal. A soft yet subtle look of added volume and length. If you prefer soft and barely there looking mascara, you would enjoy this formula. But if you're like me and prefer dramatic looking lashes, you should pass on this one.

     100% Pure Maracuja Oil Mascara | $26

Maracuja Oil Mascara

Maracuja Oil Mascara, 2 Coats

One of the most well-known vegan mascaras on the market, the 100% Pure Maracuja Oil Mascara was a bit of a disappointment for me.

The formula was on the wet side and did not deliver intense looking volume or thickness. If you have long lashes, I think you would enjoy this formula. If you have small or hooded eyes like I do, be aware that the mascara wand is very large so you will likely get transfer onto your eyelids when you are applying this.

Not worth the price or the hype.

The Favorites!

Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara | $16

Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara

Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara, 2 Coats

One of the best things about the Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7 in 1 Mascara is it's versatility! This two-in-one mascara transforms between a volumizing and lengthening wand depending on what you need.

The formula is on the wet side but does not clump, flake, or smudge throughout the day! If you have short and stubby lashes and you need length AND a little volume, this is the mascara for you. It's a great everyday formula that's not too subtle, dramatic or give you spider-looking lashes.

Lily Lolo Natural Mascara | $20

Natural Mascara

Natural Mascara, 2 Coats

This picture says it all. The Lily Lolo Natural Mascara is the one mascara that gives my lashes major volume and definition!

The only negative about this mascara is that is it prone to flaking for the first few weeks, so make sure to scrape off the excess mascara from the brush before application. If you love dramatic and bold looking lashes but are afraid to give up your conventional volumizing mascaras from L'Oreal or Maybelline, don't be! This mascara gives you the same gorgeous voluminous effect without the nasty ingredients and no animal cruelty!

I hope this list helps you guy when you're deciding which mascara to pick up next. I know there are many more vegan options with clean ingredients, so be sure to check back on my instagram page for the newest products I'm testing out!
